2016_nov_23_uh_pray

  • Please pray for families (spiritual and biological families)
  • Pray that those who know Christ would fight for unity in Christ.
  • Pray that true love that overlooks offenses would be shared.
  • Pray for conversations to be had, apologies to be given, forgiveness to be shared, and reconciliation to happen.
  • Pray that believers within families will be quick to say “yes” to the Holy Spirit’s promptings and no to sin.
  • Pray that entire families would agree that God is worth it all.

Keith Minier to Speak at Momentum Youth Conference 2017

Posted in: Featured

2016_nov_23_mo_keith_minier
We’re excited to have Pastor Keith Minier speaking at Momentum Youth Conference 2017 next summer! If you were at Momentum 2016 you may remember him speaking about “being the only one for the only One.” Keith emphasized living a consistent life and the importance of it as the fame of Jesus and the mission of God are at stake. Keith said, “We’re talking about being holy because it represents God. I will choose to be only one person for the only one true God. Whether they like me or hate me, whether it earns me popularity or drives me to eat by myself in the cafeteria, I will stand on the rock of Jesus.”

Keith boldly challenges students and leaders to live according to God’s Word and to live an authentic life for Jesus.

Keith is the lead pastor at Grace Fellowship in Pickerington, Ohio. He has served faithfully in this role for ten years and has seen God move tremendously over that time. Grace Fellowship has grown from a church of 70 to over 3,000 during his leadership. He is a passionate and skilled communicator and leader who loves seeing the power of the local church unleashed. Keith has a strong desire to see the next generation of Christ followers live up to their potential in the local church.

Cal Thomas

CE National is happy to present Cal Thomas as the speaker at Heritage

Heritage is a one-day event at Shady Maple Smörgåsbord in East Earl, Pennsylvania, on April 28, 2017.

Cal Thomas is one of the most widely read and highly regarded voices on the American political scene. He is a Fox News contributor and a member of USA Today’s Board of Contributors.

This year, CE National will present a biblical world-view of how believers should respond in a changing culture, especially relating to our government.

A graduate of American University, Thomas is a veteran of broadcast and print journalism. He has worked for NBC News in Washington, D.C. and hosted his own program on CBNC that was nominated for a Cable ACE Award in 1995. In 2011, Thomas received the William F. Buckley, Jr. Award for Media Excellence from the Media Research Center. His latest book, What Works: Common Sense Solutions for a Stronger America, was published in 2014 on the 30th anniversary of his syndicated column.

Mr. Thomas will include a question/answer time after lunch.

Heritage is for Everyone

Heritage is for everyone—pastors, lay people, young and old, all who are concerned and wondering about how to respond in today’s world to the events that are happening around us.

Sharing the platform with him will be former Sight and Sound actress, Karen Knight. Karen will present a dramatic production of Julia Ward Howe, author of “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.” Also, the Men of Grace from Telford, Pa., will share music that will remind everyone of our spiritual and historical heritage in Christ.

The program begins at 9:15 am (doors open at 8:00) and will conclude with assembling homeless packets for the inner-city ministry of Urban Hope in Philadelphia. The cost for the day is $30 and includes the Shady Maple Smörgåsbord lunch. A $5 donation is encouraged to help purchase the homeless supplies.

The 3:00 pm Sight and Sound production of Jonah at the Millennial Theater near Strasburg is an optional event. The cost is an additional $54 per person (reduced price).

Registration for Heritage will open online December 1st.

Three Chairs for Tribal Chiefs – November Pastorpedia

2016_nov_18_pastorpedia_leaders
Pastors Knute Larson, Jeff Bogue, and Jim Brown talk about how you, as a pastor, can best utilize long-term, influential members of your church.

Knute explains more. “This month we tackle the subject of those long-time veterans of the church, people very influential in the church crowd. They are sometimes called tribal chiefs with a frown, for good reason. Some have sabotaged. But most, especially when honored and respected, have contributed to the good of the church and our mission.

How shall we help that be so?  Let’s see….”

Davey Blackburn to Speak at Momentum Youth Conference

Davey Blackburn to Speak at Momentum Youth Conference

Davey Blackburn, lead pastor of Resonate Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, will be a main session speaker at Momentum Youth Conference.

Davey says, “I moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, in 2012 with my wife, Amanda.  We started a church that would connect people to Jesus who have been disconnected from Him and His church. For 3 long years we worked hard to reach people for Jesus and what’s come of that work is Resonate Church.

“On the morning of November 10th, 2015, I came home from the gym to discover Amanda had been shot in the head during a home invasion.  Our 15-month old was in his crib upstairs. She passed away in the hospital twenty-four hours later. Since that day Weston and I have been walking a road I would have never chosen for us or anyone else.

“Before her death Amanda had created quite a business following by restoring old furniture and home decor. She believed nothing was wasted and anything could be restored into a treasure.  Now I spend every waking moment following Jesus into his plan to restore this tragedy into something beautiful. My story is played out in the light of a greater Story – Jesus’ Story. Scripture tells me in Jesus’ Story Nothing is Wasted, even the most tragic of situations.”

We’re excited to welcome Davey Blackburn to Momentum 2017.

Momentum Youth Conference challenges students 6th – 12th grade to experience and follow Jesus. Find out more about Momentum Youth Conference at buildmomentum.org.

270 Meals Were Packed Last Night to be Distributed Today

Posted in: Featured

Thanks to generous gifts from around the country, the Urban Hope Community Church was able to pack up 270 Thanksgiving meals last night (November 17).

Neighborhood families were able to purchase a meal for $5. The $5, in turn, went towards paying a couple of unemployed individuals from the church for the work they do in helping with meal sign ups, purchasing, and distribution of food.

Today (November 18) from 1 pm-7 pm the Urban Hope Community Church family is distributing meals.
Some meals will be delivered to houses, but most people will come to the church to pick up the meals they purchased.

Please pray…

  • for safety and good conversations for those who are delivering door-to-door.
  • that those who come to the church to pick up their meals will experience a taste of the hope of Christ.
  • that they will feel welcomed, loved, and respected as they wait.
  • that the people of Urban Hope Community Church are welcoming and will have the right words to say, ears to hear, hands to extend and hearts to love.
  • that some would respond to the love they experience, be hungry for more, and attracted to Jesus.
  • against impatience, entitlement attitudes, and deception.
  • for families to attend Urban Hope’s Sunday service
  • for hearts to accept Jesus as Savior and SUBMIT TO HIM AS KING
  • that all who know and walk with Jesus would be filled up and overflowing.

Thanks for praying and giving to make this outreach successful.

Special thanks to those individuals who gave to the Thanksgiving outreach in honor or memory of someone else.

  • Grandma and Granddad Foote gave in honor of the Foote grandchildren
  • Louise Richardson gave in honor of Amber Richardson
  • Keith and Cindy Harris gave in honor of Bill Harris
  • Joe and Evelyn Tyson gave in honor of Kathy Tyson
  • Willamae Folden gave in honor of Don Folden

Day Away–North of 55 is Called Heritage in 2017

Posted in: Featured

2016_nov_11_heritage
On April 28, 2017, Shady Maple Smörgåsbord in East Earl, Pennsylvania, will be the site of a one-day event called Heritage. Cal Thomas, award winning journalist and expert on current events from a biblical world view, will be the guest speaker.

Because of the heightened political turmoil in our country, CE National has expanded Day Away–North of 55 for this year and is calling it Heritage. Heritage is open to all pastors, church and community leaders, lay people of ALL ages, and anyone who is interested in how to respond in a godly way to our current political situation. We encourage pastors to urge their congregations to attend.

Cal Thomas will challenge Christians on how to respond in a godly way to our changing political situation and structure. With a twice-weekly column appearing in hundreds of newspapers, Cal Thomas is one of the most widely read and one of the most highly regarded voices on the American political scene. He is a Fox News contributor and a member of USA Today’s Board of Contributors.

A graduate of American University, Thomas is a veteran of broadcast and print journalism. He has worked for NBC News in Washington, D.C. and hosted his own program on CBNC that was nominated for a Cable ACE Award in 1995. In 2011, Thomas received the William F. His latest book, What Works: Common Sense Solutions for a Stronger America, was published in 2014 on the 30th anniversary of his syndicated column.

Save the date of April 28, 2017, for Heritage. This day is designed to draw attention to how we respond to our current national state and remind us of our heritage, both nationally and spiritually. More details to come.

Join Urban Hope this Thanksgiving Season

Posted in: Featured

2016_oct_13_uh_meals
In the Kensington section of inner-city Philadelphia live people who do not have the means to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal. While the greatest need is spiritual, we also believe that Jesus cares for the physical needs of people. Through your support we are able to provide 300 meals to families who need help this holiday season. Because of your generosity, families can pay $5 for their entire meal so that we can give them a “hand-up” and not simply a “hand-out.” Through this outreach, we are also providing jobs for a few people in our local church and community who are currently unemployed.

By giving a gift of $50 per family or $10 per individual, you are not only providing a great Thanksgiving dinner, you are also providing employment for people who desperately need the extra help. This also provides each family the opportunity to hear the gospel.
